Website operation requires the use of many technologies and a series of authentication, among which the deployment of SSL certificates for the website is also a key step. The SSL certificate is a protocol certificate that ensures the stability and security of information transmission between hosts and users. There is a relatively fixed operation process for installing SSL certificates. Webmasters may use different installation methods when deploying SSL certificates. What should websites pay attention to when deploying SSL certificates? What are the steps for installing an SSL certificate?

1. Use the server certificate to install and configure the SSL certificate

Before installing the SSL certificate, the webmaster must create a CSR file in the host to generate the private key. Creating a CSR file on the host is simple. You can directly use Apache to generate the CSR file. After the certificate request file is generated, you can apply for the SSL certificate installation. The choice of SSL certificate should be careful, the current market provides SSL certificate purchase service providers more, it is recommended that you had better directly choose a large formal company to buy SSL certificate. After purchasing an SSL certificate, download the certificate from the corresponding website and upload the certificate to the host. Finally, open the http.conf file in text editing and restart the host. In this way, the SSL certificate deployment and installation is basically complete.

2. Install through Microsoft Internet Information Service

In this way, you need to create a CSR file before the SSL certificate is deployed and installed. To apply for a CSR file, log in to the host and directly connect to the management tool IIS by using the mouse. After applying for the CSR file, purchase and download the SSL certificate from a trusted service provider. The security of the SSL certificate is higher. After downloading the SSL certificate, open the relevant tool on the IIS server on the host, create the certificate request, connect the certificate to the host, store the certificate in a proper location, and confirm the installation. After the SSL certificate is successfully deployed, bind the SSL certificate to the website, restart IIS, and perform a certificate test. If no problem is found in the test, the SSL certificate has been successfully installed.

3. Install using Exchange

To begin with, you need to create a CSR file on the host, purchase an SSL certificate, and download the SSL certificate. According to the corresponding process, the information of the SSL certificate is copied to a text file, then stored as intermediate.cer, and then processed through the Microsoft system console. Open the xchange administration console, click on the host configuration option, and select Enable Certificate so that the SSL certificate is successfully deployed to the site.

4. Install using cPanel

The last method is to first make the CSR file, generate the certificate, and download the certificate. At last, open the SSL management menu in cPanel, open the SSL certificate connection, wait for the SSL certificate to be installed, and restart the host for testing.

Install the SSL certificate in different ways. Select a proper installation method based on your requirements. Ensure that the steps during the installation are complete and that the rented SSL certificate is secure and effective. Pay attention to the SSL certificate expiration time. Renew the SSL certificate in advance to prevent the SSL certificate from becoming invalid.
